Back to School: Tips to Readjust to School

Summer has come and gone. And with the first week of classes in the books, students may find it difficult to readjust to school. Some families are proactive about getting their kids back on schedule, but there are still a few things that you can do to help your kid start off on the right foot. Here are three tips to make the transition from summer vacation to school a smooth one.Renton Prep - get enough sleep

Get Enough Sleep

Sleeping plays a huge role in how people perform their daily tasks. School is no exception. It is crucial that students get enough sleep every night to ensure good class performance and decrease stress. An article on the importance of sleep asserts that teenagers need to sleep between 9 to 10 hours a night in order to increase their concentration and academic performance. This is also a major step to readjust to school well after summer vacation.Renton Prep - create a to do list

Create a To-Do List

Starting school can be overwhelming, with the new schedule, classes, syllabi, and books to purchase. So, to avoid missing deadlines and to keep things organized, create a to-do list in order of importance. This helps you de-clutter your brain and allows you to get more things done. Also, you will be able to stay up to date on what each class is doing and never forget what comes next.

Renton Prep - take study breaks

Take Study Breaks

To ensure learning while studying, you must take study breaks. Believe it or not, trying to cram as much information as you can without stopping is not good for you to retain information. Students need to make sure to take short breaks in between study sessions to prevent fatigue, and increase productivity and creativity. Research shows that taking breaks is beneficial for people at both the workplace and school. It is recommended to take 5 to 10 minute short breaks frequently, where you can either do some easy exercises to get your body moving, or just get your mind off the topic in question.
