Stem Summit 4.0 is where all the great minds get a chance to present, answer questions, and openly discuss how data impacts and transforms education. Renton Prep’s very own Dr. Michelle Zimmerman and Jennifer Fernandez were acknowledged and considered among those great minds. What an amazing opportunity for both Dr. Zimmerman and Jennifer to represent Renton Prep Christian School in New York City. Renton Prep Christian is all about having a positive impact in the hearts and minds of the community. Renton Prep strives to make their students the educational trendsetters of this generation and not followers.
Dr. Michelle Zimmerman, our Director of Innovative Teaching and Learning Sciences, and Renton Prep’s 10th grader Jennifer Fernandez (who was accompanied by her parents) flew to New York City. This all-expenses paid trip was to present their research entitled “Tactics to Build Engaged Learners”. Ms. Fernandez was the only high school student to present at the Scientific American and Macmillan Learning’s 4th Annual STEM Education Executive Summit held at the New York Academy of Sciences located at 250 Greenwich Street in lower Manhattan. Dr. Zimmerman and Jennifer join a select group of presenters from the White House, U.S. Department of Education, STEM Initiatives, Chevron, The Clinton Foundation, and the President and CEO’s from National Geographic, New York Hall of Science, and the New York Academy of Sciences.
Jennifer Fernandez was the only student as a speaker to represent this prestigious group. Ms. Fernandez’s story is coming soon. Stay tuned as she continues to change the world for the better.
