Mission, Vision, and Action
The official statements that guide Renton Prep Christian School.
Our Mission
To create a community inspired by Jesus Christ's teachings, where learners develop their voice, embrace curiosity, learn from failure, and make meaningful contributions, supported by technology.
At Renton Prep, educators and students are both considered learners, uniquely positioned to bring hope to a hurting world. We follow the example of Jesus as an effective teacher who asked, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” (Matthew 21:16). We follow that example by listening carefully, inviting questions, and engaging multiple perspectives.
Our mission calls learners to practice critical thinking and problem‑solving through productive struggle, both individually and collaboratively. In a rapidly changing world, we view challenge and uncertainty not as obstacles to avoid, but as essential opportunities to innovate and grow.
We are committed to forming learners who approach relationships, work, and daily life with discernment, resilience, responsibility, and purpose.
Our Vision
To inspire a passion for teaching, learning, and critical thinking, shaping responsible citizens who share hope and build a legacy of wisdom and compassion together.
As technology and society continue to evolve, our vision remains anchored in our enduring mission and values, while thoughtfully adapting emerging skills and human traits that remain relevant in a continually changing world.
We seek to build a legacy shaped by the God-given talent, insight, and voice of students, educators, and collaborators, by cultivating strong and nuanced thinking skills, with the grit, wisdom, and flexibility required to move ideas into action.
Our Action
We advance our mission and vision by inspiring curiosity, resilience, and learning from failure while cultivating learners' wisdom and abilities to contribute meaningfully in an ever‑changing, complex world.
A technology‑enabled education means more than incorporating modern tools and secure systems. It requires thoughtful learning design. As technology advances, our practices adapt. Our values remain constant.
Guided by Christ's life and ministry and expressed through our C.H.R.I.S.T. core values, we shape both thinking skills and adaptability so learners and collaborators, from children to adults, can refine ideas, apply learning, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and world.
All Genesis Project–related action remains aligned with Renton Prep's mission, vision, and beliefs while allowing approved translation for secular or interorganizational applications.
What Sets Us Apart
Rigorous academics, a Christ-centered culture, and a school community small enough that every teacher knows every student, K through 12, in the same building.
Every Child Is Known
Class sizes stay small on purpose. Teachers follow each student's learning patterns over time, knowing when to push harder, when to slow down, and when a different approach will finally unlock understanding.
Faith Woven Throughout
Scripture and the example of Christ shape how we frame every subject, from how we interpret history to how we resolve conflict in the hallway. Faith isn't a chapel add-on; it is the operating culture of the school.
Research-Backed Methods
Instruction is built on methods with documented results: spaced practice, frequent low-stakes assessment, and project-based learning that connects classroom skills to real problems. What and how we teach is continuously revised against current evidence.
Technology as a Learning Tool
Technology, including AI, is a means to stronger thinking, not a substitute for it. Students develop the discernment to know when and how to use these tools well, building habits that serve them long after the tools themselves change.
Whole-Child Development
Academic challenge, character formation, physical health, and creative expression are all treated as essential, not as extras competing for time. A student taught only facts is not fully prepared.
Small School, Strong Community
At this size, parents know teachers by name, and teachers know parents. Families join a school where involvement is natural, communication is direct, and no decision about your child is made without you in the conversation.
Learning to Lead
the Tool
A K–5 curriculum rooted in Renton Prep's mission, forming elementary-age learners who think critically, ask good questions, and understand what the tools they use can and cannot do.
Critical Thinking First
Students learn to question AI outputs, verify sources, and apply their own reasoning, so they lead the tool rather than follow it.
Age-Appropriate Exposure
Each grade introduces concepts at the right developmental moment, building on prior learning so understanding deepens naturally, K through 5.
Ethical Frameworks
From the earliest grades, students explore questions of responsibility, authorship, and impact, grounded in Christian ethics and human dignity.
Student: Is this AI answer correct? Genesis Guide:Great question. Let's check three things together: → Where did this claim come from? → Does it match what we already know? →What would happen if it's wrong? Student: Oh, I think I can verify this in our science book. Genesis Guide:Exactly. You're leading the tool. The tool doesn't lead you.

Grounded in What Works
Instruction here follows the evidence, not the trend cycle. We build on what research consistently shows works, then adapt it for the students we actually know.
Reading Instruction That Works
Literacy instruction starts with the foundational skills: phonics, decoding, and word recognition. From there it builds through fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students don't just learn to read; they read to discover, think, and grow.
Mathematical Reasoning
Students are expected to explain their thinking, not just arrive at the right answer. Math class involves discussion: showing how a problem was solved, trying alternative approaches, and building the confidence that comes from genuine understanding.
Character and Relational Skills
Students who understand themselves, manage conflict well, and work effectively with others carry those skills into every area of life. We treat character and relational development as core curriculum, not supplementary programming.
Outdoor & Experiential Learning
Students learn beyond the classroom through field trips, outdoor time, and hands-on projects built into the regular schedule. Getting out of the building and into the world isn't a reward for finishing work; it's part of how the work gets done.
What Our Families Say
Words from parents whose children call Renton Prep home.
Renton Prep changed how my daughter sees herself as a learner. She went from struggling to thriving, and the teachers knew exactly why and what she needed.
The combination of strong academics and genuine faith integration is rare. My kids are being challenged intellectually and shaped spiritually at the same time.
The Genesis Project gave my son a way to talk about AI that was grounded and thoughtful. He is not afraid of the technology. He knows how to use it wisely.
