Our reopening plan established in June that we wou Our reopening plan established in June that we would start school three weeks early in August and stop in-person learning no later than the three weeks after Thanksgiving break and before Christmas Break where school would already be closed through New Years. This was based on strong recommendations from medical experts and epidemiologists who predicted increase in community Covid-19 levels at this time, as well as colds and flu symptoms. We are working on plans and ways to keep our students connected during flex time. This is also a chance for students to catch up during this time. While we were in school daily through the end of November, we were so happy to see the beautiful leaves around campus. We’ve had so much to be thankful for, including being able to stay open in person for faculty and students learning for 16 weeks with no viral infection spread. . . . #ShowcaseSchool #microsoftedu #leaves #fall #thanksgiving

Washington Federation for Independent Schools and Washington Federation for Independent Schools and Department of Health held a webinar to review the Institute for Disease Modeling and data they currently have. Our school you may recall seeing the updates from our school referring to this report the first week of November. We continue to make decisions based on the latest information. There are no new updates to this report information other than identifying the increase in numbers and community outbreaks. As of November 22, 2020, Washington State reported 299.5 newly diagnosed cases per 100K over two weeks. Earlier guidelines recommended that schools consider remote if community rates are at 75 or more cases per 100K over two weeks. Renton Prep has been remote since Thursday last week. Our reopening plan anticipated going remote starting the end of November through New Years to decrease the risk of infectious spread of colds, flu, and Covid-19.
