Physical education (P.E.) teachers plan, organize, and deliver lessons consistent with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Health and Physical Education K–12 Learning Standards. This includes organizing skill development and game sessions for grades 3 through 10.
A good physical education teacher demonstrates leadership and communication skills. They are also role models, so remaining in shape and modeling good health is critical. PE teachers plan and deliver lessons, also assessing performance where appropriate, in the same way that other teachers do. They instruct and look for improvement in students. Additional duties may include coaching one or more teams or helping with intramural activities. See Renton Prep teacher expectations.
