School Year 2021 – 2022
In consideration of the enrollment of the above-named student (the “Student”) by Amazing Grace Lutheran Church d/b/a Renton Preparatory Christian School (“Renton Prep” or the “School”) for the 2021-2022 academic year, the undersigned responsible parent(s), legal guardian(s), and/or financially responsible individual(s) (“I”), jointly and severally, and intending to be legally bound, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Student, agree to all of the following terms and conditions.
This Enrollment Contract (the “Contract”) is for the 2021-2022 academic year only. The School may, in its sole discretion, deny any student enrollment in the School. This Contract is contingent upon the Student’s successful completion of the 2020-2021 academic year (whether at the School or elsewhere) in good academic, disciplinary, and financial standing, as determined by the School, in its sole discretion.
I understand and agree that I am unconditionally responsible for paying the Student’s School account (the “Student Account”) for the full academic year. The Student Account is comprised of School tuition and all related ancillary fees and other expenses or charges the Student may incur during the academic year. Ancillary fees may include: uniforms, extended before and after school care, certain field trips, personal classroom supplies, lunches or snacks, personal digital devices (Microsoft Surface for K-Prep – 10th grades), or other items that may be required as part of the School program. I understand and agree that the School will invoice the Student Account throughout the academic year for charges incurred for activities and other special fees not covered by tuition. I am responsible for and agree to pay additional costs not covered by tuition.
The tuition and fees (collectively the “Tuition”) for the 2021-2022 academic year are set forth below. I understand and acknowledge that the School will not refund or reduce any part of the Tuition or other charges because of the dismissal, absence, or withdrawal of the Student, unless otherwise permitted pursuant to the Separation From School provision in this Contract.
Please note that typical fees for field trips and other items will consist of approximately $500 per school year.
I understand that if the Student does not return textbooks or school owned digital devices by the end of the school year, or when the Student withdraws from the School that I will be assessed the actual costs of the replacement value of the textbook or digital device, plus a $35.00 reordering fee per item. There is no reduction in Tuition for holidays, vacations, illnesses or absences, or emergency closures. All field trips requiring prior reservations are non-refundable due to absence as reservations are completed based upon the expected student population and are paid well in advance of the actual field trip date.
I, jointly and severally, agree to pay the Tuition consistent with the schedule set forth in this Contract. The first Tuition payment in the amount of $1,107.25 is due two (2) weeks (ten (10) business days) following my submission of the signed Contract to the School and is considered a non-refundable, non-transferable reservation deposit (“the Deposit”). The School will not hold a place for the Student without this Contract and the Deposit. The Deposit will be forfeited if the Student does not attend, withdraws from, or is dismissed from the School. The remaining balance of the Tuition is due no later than July 15, 2021, unless I opt to enroll in the monthly payment plan.
One payment of remaining Annual Tuition due July 15, 2021; OR for new enrollment received after July 15, 2021 one Annual Tuition payment within two weeks or before the first day of school, whichever occurs first.
The Annual payment plan includes a 2% discount on the total cost of Tuition.
Eleven remaining equal installments due the 15th of each month July 2021 through May 2022
The Monthly payment plan is subject to a 3% finance charge.
All payments owed under this Contract will be processed by Renton Prep using the Tuition Education Platform (“Tuition EP”).
Failure to make timely payment on a Student Account may result in significant consequences. There is no grace period granted for any delinquent payment and consequences may be imposed the following School day. As such, I understand that if the Student Account is not current, the Student may be prohibited from attending school, classes, examinations, or other School activities. If the Student Account has not been paid in full within thirty (30) days of the due date, the School may suspend the Student from classes and/or School events, and take any other action that the School deems appropriate, as permitted by applicable law. In addition, if the Student is transferring to a new school, the School may also notify the new school of the unpaid balance. To the extent that I have any other children enrolled in the School and such children’s accounts are delinquent, I understand that these consequences may be imposed on all of my children, including the Student.
Acceptance of late payments by the School shall not constitute a waiver of any subsequent delinquency, default, or breach of this Contract, or be construed as a waiver of the total amounts owed to the School. The School may grant exceptions to the financial terms in the Contract on a case-by-case basis and to the extent that an exception is granted to one individual applies only to that individual and does not apply to any other individual. No failure or delay on the part of the School to fully enforce any right, power, or remedy under this Contract or any other student’s enrollment contract shall be construed as a waiver or otherwise preclude the School from fully enforcing its rights at any time with respect to the Student or any other student. I shall bear any and all costs of collection on the Student Account, including, but not limited to, administrative costs, reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, and collection company fees or other costs incurred by the School in the collection of any unpaid balance. Any bank charges for returned checks or other electronic payments will be charged to the Student Account along with an administrative fee.
If I intend to withdraw the Student from the School, I must notify the School in writing by submitting Renton Prep’s Student Withdrawal online form to the School, which is available at https://rentonprep.org/student-withdrawal/. Verbal notification of withdrawal is not accepted.
I acknowledge and agree that the expenses of the School do not diminish with the departure of the Student, whether via withdrawal, dismissal, or for any reason, voluntary or involuntary, either prior to, or during, the academic year.
I understand and agree that, if the date of the Student’s separation from the School is after February 9, 2021, but on or before April 15, 2021, I will be responsible for paying a $1,500 withdrawal fee. If the date of the Student’s separation from School is after April 15, 2021, but on or before June 14, 2021, I will be responsible for paying a $3,000 withdrawal fee. These withdrawal fees are payable in full within 48 hours after notice of withdrawal is received by the School. Any tuition/fees paid prior to withdrawal may be credited to the withdrawal fee, in the School’s sole decision.
If the date of the Student’s separation from School is after June 15, 2021, but on or before December 1, 2021, I will be responsible for paying half of the full year’s Tuition as liquidated damages. If the date of the Student’s separation from the School is after December 1, 2021, I will be responsible for paying the full year’s Tuition as liquidated damages. I agree that the amount of liquidated damages is a reasonable estimate of the damages likely to be incurred by the School as a result of the Student’s separation from the School after June 15, 2021 and that the actual damages are difficult or impossible to ascertain at this time. In the event of the Student’s separation from the School on or after June 15, 2021, all unpaid Tuition and fees shall become due and payable in full within five (5) business days of the date of separation.
The Student and I agree to comply with the School’s policies, rules, regulations, and standards of academic and social behavior as stated in the School’s Family-Student Handbook (the “Handbook”). To review and download Family-Student Handbook click here. I understand that the Handbook sets forth general expectations regarding the Student’s enrollment in the School, but that the Handbook does not constitute a contract between me and the School or the Student and the School, and that the School may deviate from the guidelines and expectations set forth in the Handbook in its discretion as individual circumstances may warrant. The School may alter, interpret, and implement its rules, policies, and procedures, including those in the Handbook, at any time. In the event of a conflict between the terms of this Contract and the policies and provisions of the Handbook, the terms of this Contract shall govern.
The School believes that a positive and constructive working relationship among the School, the Student, and the Student’s parents/guardians is essential to fulfillment of the School’s educational mission and statement of values. The School may suspend, dismiss, or refuse to enroll the Student, or place restrictions on an individual’s involvement with School activities or events or presence on School property, if the School concludes that the Student, or a family member or other individual associated with the Student, has engaged in any behavior (whether on or off campus, and whether during the academic year or otherwise) that interferes with the School’s ability to fulfill its educational purposes or runs contrary to the best interests of the School or members of the School’s community. Examples include, but are not limited to, the following circumstances: (i) the Student is not satisfactorily meeting the School’s standards for academic performance or social conduct; (ii) the Student, the Student’s parents or guardians, or anyone associated with the Student engages in behavior that is deemed unsuitable by the School; (iii) the Student’s family does not participate with the School in the spirit of cooperation and partnership that the School deems necessary to support the Student’s
education; or (iv) the Student Account is in arrears. All decisions of the School in this regard shall be made in its sole discretion and shall be considered final and not subject to review.
The School requires parents, including those who are separated or divorced, to cooperate in the Student’s best interests with respect to the Student’s education, including avoiding being disruptive to the Student’s education. Parents must provide details of any and all custody arrangements involving the Student to the School and keep the front office apprised of any changes in custody arrangements and other matters that may affect the Student or the School. In the absence of an appropriate court order or other legal documentation to the contrary: (i) the School may communicate and share any and all educational, administrative, social, and/or health information concerning the Student with both/all parents/guardians; and (ii) all parents/guardians may attend School functions, subject to the School’s ordinary right to restrict access to School grounds.
In its literature and in conversations with teachers and administrators, the School strives to describe its approach to education, but the School makes no representations or undertakings as to the kind, quality, or appropriateness of its education for the particular Student, nor does it guarantee any particular educational outcome. I understand that the School may, in its sole discretion, change without notice its course offerings, activities, class schedules, school publications, and personnel, as well as policies, procedures, and practices, as circumstances may warrant. This includes, but is not limited to, providing alternate means of instruction, such as distance learning. The School will endeavor to provide prompt notice of any such changes. Enrollment by the School is not a guarantee of placement of the Student in a specific classroom with a specific teacher. The School makes no guarantee regarding the re-enrollment of other students or classroom composition in any particular program.
I understand it is essential that I communicate and promptly disclose to the School any details that may affect the Student’s experience at the School including, but not limited to, the Student’s learning styles, medical conditions, behavioral issues, and emotional needs. I affirm that I will promptly disclose such information to the School and notify the School of any changes throughout the Student’s enrollment.
I affirm that all information about the Student provided to the School is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand and acknowledge that any false, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading statements may be grounds for dismissal of the Student.
I understand that I am responsible for the costs of medical care for the Student while the Student is enrolled in the School. I understand that the Student is required to have health insurance coverage valid in the State of Washington that provides the level of benefits deemed necessary by the School. I am responsible for providing the School with the name of the carrier and policy number that insures the Student on or before the first day of school. I agree to notify the School if this coverage changes and to provide the School with the Student’s current health insurance carrier and policy number.
In accordance with Washington law, the School requires all students to present a certificate of up-to-date immunizations or a certificate of exemption before attending school. I understand that the Student may be prohibited from attending the School unless and until the Student has provided proof of immunization signed by a medical professional or proof of a qualified personal/philosophical, religious, or medical exemption, pursuant to Washington law.
COVID-19 is a novel and extremely contagious communicable illness that is spread through person-to-person interactions. COVID-19 can cause symptoms in any infected individual, though data indicates that older individuals and those with existing medical conditions are at a higher risk of developing severe symptoms and complications. Not all individuals infected with COVID-19 display any symptoms, but such individuals may nonetheless be contagious and spread the infection. COVID-19 is also associated with a serious and potentially deadly condition called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C). State and local authorities are closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in the State of Washington, and have introduced mandatory quarantines, social distancing, and other safety measures to try to mitigate the spread of the disease.
Consistent with state guidance, the School continues to develop and implement policies and practices, and implement modifications to our campus, to help promote a safer environment (the “Pandemic Policies”). The School has provided me with the School’s safety policies and practices that will be required while COVID-19 remains a concern. However, circumstances are evolving rapidly and federal, state, and local school operating procedures continue to evolve. I understand that the School may deviate from the guidelines and expectations set forth in the Pandemic Policies, in its discretion as individual circumstances may warrant. By signing this Contract, I, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Student, acknowledge and agree that the Student and I will adhere to the School’s Pandemic Policies and other expectations, and that failure to do so may result in suspension, dismissal, or refusal to enroll the Student in the School, as determined by the School, in its sole discretion.
Although the School will meet all applicable safety requirements, so long as COVID-19 continues to spread by community transmission and until there is an effective vaccine available, there will be a risk that students could become infected with COVID-19 despite the School’s efforts. That risk extends to the families of students, as well as others with whom the student may have contact. By signing this Contract, I acknowledge and agree, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Student, that despite the School’s efforts to operate safely, there is nonetheless a risk that the Student could contract COVID-19 and/or become a symptomatic and/or asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19, and/or develop MIS-C.
I understand and acknowledge that the School incorporates educational, web-based computer applications and online or remote learning programs in its curriculum and student activities. The School’s online learning programs may consist of entirely distance learning, in which all students participate online, or hybrid learning, in which some students participate in class while other students participate online, as well as recordings of in-person instruction. The School expects students to participate in both distance and hybrid programs in a manner similar to how they would for in-person classes. The School may choose to record distance and hybrid classes and activities for a variety of operational reasons, such as ensuring that all students have access to the School’s online learning programs. Further information about the School’s web-based applications and online learning programs is available upon request. Families may also contact the School’s office for more information or with any questions about these applications and programs.
I authorize the Student to use the School’s web-based computer applications in connection, and consistent with, the School’s curriculum and student activities. I further consent to the livestreaming and recording of any distance, in-person, or hybrid learning interactions among the Student and the School, its employees, and other students. This consent applies in any context, including, but not limited to, both group and one-on-one contexts. I understand that livestreams or recordings may include situations in which the Student is livestreamed or recorded on or off campus. If I do not consent to either use of the web-based computer applications or the livestreaming and recording of any distance or hybrid learning programs involving the Student, I agree to notify the front office and teacher in writing prior to event. I understand that a decision to not allow the Student to use these applications and/or to be livestreamed and recorded may seriously impact the Student’s ability to participate in the School’s programs and activities, including engaging in distance and hybrid learning.
The School’s ability to portray its program accurately and vibrantly depends on families’ support of the School’s use of images of students and students’ work. Therefore, I authorize the School, its successors and assigns, and those acting within its permission and upon its authority, to use the Student’s name, photographic image (including, but not limited to, portrait, picture, video, or other reproductions), audio recordings of the Student’s voice, video recordings of the Student, and likeness, in written or in electronic format, and reproductions of the Student’s work, including media from a remote learning context (collectively referred to herein as “Student Media Information”) in the School’s publications, marketing and promotional materials, website, press releases, advertising media, and/or social media accounts (including, but not limited to, Facebook and Instagram). I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein the Student Media Information appears. I acknowledge the School’s right to crop or alter any photographic image of the Student at its discretion. I authorize the School to use the Student Media Information, as described herein, on more than one occasion, without limitation to the number of times it is used, in perpetuity. I authorize the School to reproduce, or cause to be reproduced and used, the Student Media Information described herein. I shall not be entitled to receive any compensation for such use, and I hereby release the School, its successors and assigns, and those acting within its permission and upon its authority, from any liability, responsibility, or claim that may arise by reason of any exercise of the authority granted above. If I do not consent to such use, I agree to notify the front office in writing prior to first day of school. Media release permission is not shared with students or parents and does not ensure Student Media Information will not appear, if published by a student, parent, or other individual, or in student-run publications or student-run social media sites. While the School strives to abide by parent/guardian wishes, it does not guarantee incidental uses of a student’s name or image will never occur.
I agree that I am not authorized to use the School’s name (Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and Renton Preparatory Christian School), any likeness of or reference to the School’s name (e.g., “Renton Prep”), or crest or logo in any way, including to describe any event, outing, club, sports team, group, or other activity (“Group”) that the Student or I may organize or lead or in which the Student or I may participate, without the express written permission of the front office. If the Student or I participate in any activity that uses the School’s name or a name like or resembling the School’s name or logo that is parent-organized or led by others, including current and former School faculty, I understand that the Group is not sponsored or endorsed by the School unless I receive written notice from the office stating that the Group has been recognized by the School. I understand that any questions about whether a Group is sponsored by the School should be directed to the front office.
I understand and agree that the duties and obligations of the School under this Contract may be modified or suspended immediately and without notice because of force majeure causes beyond the School’s reasonable control and occurring without its fault or negligence including, but not limited to, acts of god, fire, wars, governmental action, terrorism, epidemic, pandemic, weather, other threats to the safety of students, national emergencies, or any other event beyond the School’s control. If such an event occurs, I acknowledge and agree that my obligations under this Contract, including my financial obligations outlined in this Contract, including, but not limited to, my obligation to be financially responsible for the Student’s Tuition, and other fees, shall continue and the School’s duties and obligations may be modified, suspended, or postponed until such time as the School, in its sole discretion, may safely resume operations. I acknowledge and agree that the sole remedy for a force majeure event is future service delivery and not a financial refund. The School may, at its option, and in its sole discretion alter the academic year schedule or provide alternate means of instruction, including, but not limited to, distance or remote learning.
I understand and agree that all disputes and claims related to the Student’s admission to, enrollment in, and/or departure from the School, including, but not limited to, any statutory law claims for discrimination, breach of contract, and all other claims shall be resolved by mediation and binding arbitration. Mediation and binding arbitration shall be before a mutually acceptable person who is a practicing attorney with a minimum of ten years’ experience or a retired judge and a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In the event that the parties cannot agree on such a person(s), each shall appoint a qualified person and each party shall agree on a third qualified person to be the sole mediator or arbitrator. The arbitrator shall not be the same person as the mediator. The parties hereby incorporate, and arbitration shall follow, the procedures of Chapter 7.04 RCW and the laws of the State of Washington shall govern.
Renton Prep is an integral part and a ministry of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church. Therefore, I understand and agree that the Church has the right to use church funds for School expenses or purposes. Additionally, the School reserves the right to use the School finances in any way or manner deemed necessary, including using School funds for Church expenses or other Church-related purposes.
This Contract, and all rights and obligations provided for herein, shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington without regard to conflict of law principles. If any part of this Contract is found to be unenforceable or illegal, the remainder of this Contract shall still be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law. This Contract is the entire agreement of the parties relating to the Student’s enrollment in the School, and I acknowledge that I am not relying on any other oral or written agreements. This Contract may not be amended or modified except in a written document signed by all parties that expressly acknowledges such amendment or modification. Multiple copies of this Contract may be signed, all of which shall constitute one and the same agreement. I understand that certain provisions of this Contract survive termination of the Contract.
I understand and agree that this Contract is a binding and enforceable agreement and that the School may bring an action to enforce any rights under this agreement. In such an event, or to the extent that I cause the School to be brought into any dispute to which it is not a named party, I agree that I shall be liable for, and shall pay to the School, its costs in handling the dispute, including, but not limited to, reasonable attorneys’ fees, in addition to any other amounts that I may owe the School by way of judgment, settlement, or otherwise.
Absent legal documentation to the contrary, this Contract must be signed by all parent(s) and legal guardian(s), as well as any other individuals who are financially responsible for the Student’s enrollment in the School, but one signature on the Student’s behalf is sufficient to create a binding contract.
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read this Contract and understand and accept all of its terms and conditions. I understand that this Contract may be electronically signed, and by indicating my assent below, I am agreeing to the use of electronic signatures. I understand and agree that my electronic signature will have the same legal effect and validity as a written signature, and that this Contract is valid and will be given the same legal effect as a written and signed Contract. I understand that if I do not wish to sign this document electronically, I can request a paper copy of this document from the School’s front office, or I can print the document, sign it, and return it to the School’s front office. I understand that I can withdraw my assent to electronic signatures at any time.
IN ORDER TO RESERVE A PLACE FOR THE STUDENT, THIS SIGNED ENROLLMENT CONTRACT MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SCHOOL WITHIN FIVE (5) CALENDAR DAYS OF THE DATE THIS CONTRACT IS ISSUED TO ME.
What kind of students are a match for Renton Prep?
Students who most thrive at our schools are motivated to excel and have persistence when presented with challenges. They are willing to try and learn new things. To help learners prepare for future careers where they will not have all the answers, we intentionally build in opportunities to learn flexibility, how to work within constraints and some ambiguity to become problem-solvers. They like learning how to seek additional resources when working with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), fine arts, and developing projects and learning progressions. This is similar to graduate school models in that learning requires more than just memorizing an answer and being able to repeat content in traditional testing. As one of our goals is to prepare young people to transfer what they learn to solve larger challenges in the world as adults, compassion, and empathy become essential to learning through multiple perspectives. Students who thrive at our schools value the process of learning and demonstrating results through finished products, more than they value seeing a percentage for a test score. At the same time, they are young people who follow through with commitments, complete assignments and projects on time. Most importantly, young people who demonstrate an eagerness to be fully engaged in our community and the diversity of our culture and range of experiences have excelled through our programs of study.
When Can I Apply to Enroll at Renton Prep?
We invite applications at any time throughout the year. Students can enroll immediately upon receiving a letter of acceptance. Enrollment includes signing a financial agreement. Waitlists will be available.
Who is Enrollment available for?
Enrollment is for all students, returning and new.
What if I am planning on withdrawing my student for the school year?
If you should decide not to continue your enrollment for the following school year, we have created a user-friendly opt-out form (click here).
The only thing we ask is that this is done by February 9th.
What if my student is enrolled and I withdrawal after February 9th?
We go through a rigorous process to interview, hire, and train faculty and staff to ensure quality and best match for our school. An accurate count of students is needed to determine hiring needs well in advance of the new school year. This process for hiring, vetting, and training begins in December of the previous school year. If you choose to withdraw your student, please note the associated withdrawal fees that will be applied:
How do I add on instrumental music or coding options?
When new courses are added we will release information about add-on options for instrumental music and coding options.
Are students required to wear uniforms?
Yes. All students wear uniforms that are purchased through Land’s End Uniform School Uniforms.
What ages do you accept International Students?
We accept applications for International Students starting at 6th through 10th grade. International students that have a younger sibling can apply, but acceptance will be determined by Renton Prep admissions.
Do you offer boarding, housing, or home-stay options for International Students?
We do not offer boarding, housing, or home-stay options for International Students. Students may live with a legal guardian in the United States.
My student has had and/or currently does have behavior concerns in previous schools and/or at home. Will he/she be accepted?
We cannot accept students with behavior concerns.
Does Renton Prep offer scholarships?
Our school does not give out academic, sports, single parent household or multiple-sibling scholarships. From time to time, we receive external gifts from donors to award financial aid to students based on need. These are limited and based on the availability of external gifts.
How do I apply for Financial Assistance?
We use a third party assessor, SSS (School and Student Services), to evaluate financial need. SSS requires extensive documentation to demonstrate financial need. Applying for Financial Assistance does not guarantee that financial assistance will be awarded. The amount and number of financial aid offers awarded depend on funding from outside donors who choose to support tuition as a gift to the family. It is also based on demonstrated financial need and the family’s commitment to enacting the school’s mission, vision and action. Families receiving financial assistance need to demonstrate that they want to be at the school, that they choose to follow the School’s policies, and represent the School well in the community. Learn more on our financial aid page.
My student struggles academically. Is Renton Prep a good match?
New students enrolling into our schools need to be passing their current grade and/or promoted to the next grade. Our educational curriculum draws on multiple sources and perspectives. It challenges student creatively in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), as well as discussion-based interaction and the arts. Students demonstrate their knowledge in multiple formats. Some students who may not score exceptionally high on traditional academic tests flourish when they can demonstrate their knowledge in other ways. We emphasize that learning effectively requires challenge and sometimes failure, then resilience. Our curriculum is designed to maximize the ability to transfer learning outside of the classroom into the real world. Although some memorization is required, there is an added level of thinking, creating, and analysis to go beyond memorizing content. One of the biggest factors that indicate academic success at our schools is seen in students who consistently complete all assignments and submit assignments on time as well as a motivation to persist through challenges.
My student is accustomed to consistently scoring high on test, will this continue at Renton Prep?
Students who are accustomed to consistently scoring high on tests with little effort or studying may experience the feeling of struggling for the first time in their academic careers when first transferring to our schools. Some students are used to achieving high scores without completing assignments, submitting homework, or submitting content on time. Students who associate learning with high skills in quickly memorizing or ability to take multiple-choice tests without studying are not accustomed to experiencing productive struggle.
Do I get a refund if I apply for enrollment but my student is not accepted?
There is substantial office work that goes into scheduling, evaluating, and communicating including in-person visits. In order for your student’s application to be processed and reviewed for admission, the application fee is mandatory and non-refundable.
Does Renton Prep accept students with learning differences?
