In order to better assist you we have put together answers to some of the most frequently asked questions for Evergreen Enrollment application process. Please review the answers below and, as always, let us know if you should have further questions. We are happy to make this a great experience for your family.
What kind of students are a match for Renton Prep?
Students who most thrive at our schools are motivated to excel and have persistence when presented with challenges. They are willing to try and learn new things. To help learners prepare for future careers where they will not have all the answers, we intentionally build in opportunities to learn flexibility, how to work within constraints and some ambiguity to become problem-solvers. They like learning how to seek additional resources when working with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), fine arts, and developing projects and learning progressions. This is similar to graduate school models in that learning requires more than just memorizing an answer and being able to repeat content in traditional testing. As one of our goals is to prepare young people to transfer what they learn to solve larger challenges in the world as adults, compassion, and empathy become essential to learning through multiple perspectives. Students who thrive at our schools value the process of learning and demonstrating results through finished products, more than they value seeing a percentage for a test score. At the same time, they are young people who follow through with commitments, complete assignments and projects on time. Most importantly, young people who demonstrate an eagerness to be fully engaged in our community and the diversity of our culture and range of experiences have excelled through our programs of study.

The only thing we ask is that this is done by February 9th.
What if my student is enrolled in Evergreen Enrollment beginnings school year and I withdrawal after February 9th?
We go through a rigorous process to interview, hire, and train faculty and staff to ensure quality and best match for our school. An accurate count of students is needed to determine hiring needs well in advance of the new school year. This process for hiring, vetting, and training begins in December of the previous school year. If you choose to withdraw your student after Evergreen Enrollment, please note the associated withdrawal fees applied after February 9th. There is no withdrawal fee if withdrawal occurs before February 9th.
How do I add on instrumental music or coding options?

We do not offer boarding, housing, or home-stay options for International Students. Students may live with a legal guardian in the United States.
My student has had and/or currently does have behavior concerns in previous schools and/or at home. Will he/she be accepted?
We cannot accept students with behavior concerns.
Does Renton Prep offer scholarships?
Our school does not give out academic, sports, single parent household or multiple-sibling scholarships. From time to time, we receive external gifts from donors to award financial aid to students based on need. These are limited and based on the availability of external gifts. However, these financial aid gifts do not provide a substantial reduction on the cost of tuition. We do offer a loan through the school as a payment plan option.
How do I apply for Financial Assistance?
We use a third party assessor, SSS (School and Student Services), to evaluate financial need. SSS requires extensive documentation to demonstrate financial need. Applying for Financial Assistance does not guarantee that financial assistance will be awarded. The amount and number of financial aid offers awarded depend on funding from outside donors who choose to support tuition as a gift to the family. It is also based on demonstrated financial need and the family’s commitment to enacting the school’s mission, vision and action. Families receiving financial assistance need to demonstrate that they want to be at the school, that they choose to follow the School’s policies, and represent the School well in the community. Please contact the school office for full details.
Is there a financial agreement that we can view in addition to evergreen enrollment?
Yes, you can view it here:
My student struggles academically. Is Renton Prep a good match?
New students enrolling into our schools need to be passing their current grade and/or promoted to the next grade. Our educational curriculum draws on multiple sources and perspectives. It challenges student creatively in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), as well as discussion-based interaction and the arts. Students demonstrate their knowledge in multiple formats. Some students who may not score exceptionally high on traditional academic tests flourish when they can demonstrate their knowledge in other ways. We emphasize that learning effectively requires challenge and sometimes failure, then resilience. Our curriculum is designed to maximize the ability to transfer learning outside of the classroom into the real world. Although some memorization is required, there is an added level of thinking, creating, and analysis to go beyond memorizing content. One of the biggest factors that indicate academic success at our schools is seen in students who consistently complete all assignments and submit assignments on time as well as a motivation to persist through challenges.
My student is accustomed to consistently scoring high on test, will this continue at Renton Prep?
Students who are accustomed to consistently scoring high on tests with little effort or studying may experience the feeling of struggling for the first time in their academic careers when first transferring to our schools. Some students are used to achieving high scores without completing assignments, submitting homework, or submitting content on time. Students who associate learning with high skills in quickly memorizing or ability to take multiple-choice tests without studying are not accustomed to experiencing productive struggle.
